Britannia Coventry News

With the Big Kick Off now upon us and Coventry City hoping for a quick promotion from League Two, Britannia Tyres is hoping that some recent visits from ex-legends will be a lucky omen for the Sky Blues.

Club legends and 1987 FA Cup winners Steve Ogrizovic, Lloyd McGrath and Micky Gynn as well as Brian Borrows, who missed the Wembley final through injury but made 409 appearances for City, have all visited the Abbots Road branch.

“Some of the lads are huge Coventry City fans and I think they find it a little surreal that they’re doing work for guys that they were cheering on!” said Chris Randall.

Although that winning mentality and tactical nouse has rubbed off when working with Lamborghini Murciélagos and Jaguar E Types, the sporting-talent of the former Sky Blues stars hasn’t rubbed off on Chris and the team.

“We’re a close knit team and we spend a lot of time together outside of work. We entered a tyre-trade football tournament recently but we were knocked out within three games.”

“All joking aside, we’ve build a tight knit team here and it really helps us give our customers a quality service with a smile.”

And although Britannia’s budding sportsman may be calling for a ‘taxi’ out on the football pitch, cabbies in the UK’s ninth biggest city need look no further than Britannia Tyres Coventry to keep their vehicles on the road to success.

“We’ve been offering taxi drivers a special deal on their tracking. Coventry is the home of the Hackney Cab and we felt we should celebrate that.

“I like to think we’re keeping Coventry on the move.”

But unlike to ever-moving city, former-chef Chris has been a permanent fixture at the Coventry depot since 2006, making sure the mechanical knowledge, competitive pricing and friendly faces are the perfect recipe for success in Coventry.

“I’ve been here for eleven years and it really is a great place to work. Jeff is an old school boss and is great to work for – always mucking in where he can and helping the younger lads learn the trade.”

“We’re always really busy and we’ve built up a strong customer base, all of whom we know by first name- including the FA Cup Winners!”

And with Coventry City’s season kicking off at Notts County this afternoon (Sat), fans young and old will want to ensure that they can cheer Mark Robins team home and away.
